Beef udon: excellent noodle at home.

In Japan you see so many kinds of noodle.
Udon is the oldest one and popular in western part of Japan.

You can enjoy it as a cold dish, or hot of hottest way:)

Here, at my home udon is happy thing.

Beef udon

Soup(called "dashi" or "tsuyu") is cook of katsuo bushi and kobu.
(dried bonito and sea vegetable)
My wife Mitsuko has a special recipe.

In the soup, put boiled udon, and your favourite foods.
This time I requested beef.

Beef udon

Very nice!

Beef udon

Thick or thin. Diameter of udonn varies, and each has different tastes.
What taste of udon do I enjoy next time? One of the big joy of my life :D

Taomen: Motomachi, Kobe: tantan-men(dandan noodle) stand gives you hot and spicy ramen time

They say Japanese don't like hot or spicy food.
It is no longer true nowadays.

Especially during summer so many people enjoy hot foods
like curry, Korean or Thai dishes.

And one of the most popular hot dish is "tantan-men"
in America I heard it's called dan dan noodle, but we call this way.

Tantan-men is the delevoped version of ramen, reportedly it
was created by the father of Chinese cook who is well-known in
the TV programme "Iron Chef".

*ramen is originated from China but indeed rooted and developed
in Japan as one of local Japanese dish.

One day I went to the tantan-men shop at Kobe, called "Taomen".
10 mitutes walk from JR or Hankyu, Hanshin Sannomiya station.

Yes, looks so hot and spicy.

I chose "Mala tantan-men", the picture at the middle of first line.

*In Japan most restaurants have a menu with picture like this.
You can order just by pointing though you speak little Japanese.
Awesome, isn't it?

Ajillo cooked of Japanese vegetable

My wife, Mitsuko, tried an original "ajillo"
(stewing with hot olive oil, popular way of Spanish or Italian).
Once we enjoyed it at our favourite Italian bar
near JR Kobe station and it was so nice,
we wanna re-make it :D

ajillo japanese vegetable

Not very difficult.
brown mushroom, mini-tomato(grape tomato),
ninjin(carrot), ao-negi(cut green onion)

You can buy all ingredients at ordinary supermarket
or shops almost anywhere in Japan.

Put them into kind of deep olive oil, heat a few minutes,
season with a little salt and pepper...

Voila!!

Nazar: Turkish restaurant at Shinsaibashi, Osaka: decent taste and belly dance

Why turkish restaurant as a first post?
dunno.

I'm an ordinary Japanese, living in Kobe with my wife.
My parents and sister lives in Suita, Osaka.

Dad proposed a dinner at Turkish restaurant, perhaps as
it reminds him of good trips in Turkey sometime in his past...

Father and turkish ice cream.

When we finish and leave, the chef kindly talked to us.

"Is he your son? You two look alike."

Father "Oh really? He is chubby, I'm not!"

...I'm proud of you.
